Sustainability Policy

As a small brand, we're never going to be 100% perfect but we do our best to make everything from the most sustainable fabrics possible, in factories where quality, craftsmanship and human dignity take priority.

All our t-shirts are organic, ethical and carbon neutral. They are made without any detrimental effects to the Earth's soil, water or inhabitants, whether they be animals, plants or people, or to its climate.

Not only are the t-shirts made using organic Indian cotton, the entire production process is controlled and certified in accordance with the latest version of GOTS (Global Organic Textile Association).

Low impact farming is used to source the cotton. This means the organic cotton is planted and harvested by hand, without mechanisation and by farming organically the process is less reliant on fossil fuels as they do not use petroleum based chemical fertiliser, pesticide or herbicide.

Water is also a huge problem when making cotton, which is why we chose to work in a region in India that receives up to 95% of its water from the monsoon rain - reducing the need for large scale irrigation. They also use a closed loop purification system that uses treatment ponds, sand filtration and reverse osmosis to convert the wastewater into clean water.

We've also ensured all the workers throughout the entire process are treated fairly, and only worked with people who comply with the Fair Wear Foundation Code of Labour Practices in accordance with the International Labour Organisation’s conventions. This ensures:

1) no use of child labour
2) No use of forced labour
3) Safe and healthy working conditions
4) Legal labour contract
5) Payment of a living wage
6) Freedom of Association and the right to collective bargaining
7) No discrimination against employees
8) No excessive hours of work

The manufacturing process relies entirely on renewable energy, and is entirely carbon neutral. This is because industrial greenhouse gas emissions have been reduced to pre-industrial levels through low-impact (low emission) organic agriculture and carbon neutral industrial manufacturing, achieved through substituting energy use from fossil fuel powered power stations with clean renewable energy from wind turbines and solar power.

The t-shirts arrive in the UK via containerised ocean shipping, meaning the carbon footprint generated by transporting the t-shirts is negligible - less than 1% of the total carbon footprint. Which is around 860g for our t-shirts vs 15kg for a standard cotton t-shirt.
